Remin may access the following on your device to provide app functionality:
Remin stores analysis results, settings, voice memo recordings and any notes you write locally on your device (local database and cache) for app operation.
On supported iOS 27 devices, optional video editing suggestions analyze locally available photo thumbnails with an on-device model. Music pacing suggestions analyze your selected local audio file on the device. These actions do not upload photos or audio or modify originals.
When you start a memory with photos, Remin looks for related photos among the library items you allow, using nearby dates and recorded locations on your device. Suggested photos are added only when you choose them. Originals are not modified.
Photo draft identifiers, exclusions and playback mood choices are saved only on this device for resuming your draft. Remin can synthesize short accompaniment locally without sending photos or audio to a music service.
Remin has no server of its own and does not upload your photos, videos, voice recordings or photo analysis results to the developer. Photo analysis runs on your device.
Apple Maps. Map display, place search and converting coordinates into place names use Apple services. Search text, coordinates or the relevant map area may be sent to Apple to provide these results, including place names for photo and bookmark locations.
Trip plans keep planned places, their order, your notes, days, times and packing list on your device. When you explicitly connect a plan to a trip, Remin keeps a separate local copy of its places and notes. Later draft edits do not change that copy. It uses the same Apple Maps search and display services described above. Preparation questions are generated on device. Exported video maps are rendered on device using bundled public-domain land data and photo coordinates, without recording Apple Maps imagery. Remin does not upload your photos or videos. Plans and preparation questions are passed to the system share sheet only when you choose to share them.
Itinerary import (optional). Text in itinerary images you choose, or text you paste, is read on your device. Images are not saved or sent. When you tap “Find places”, only the place names you confirmed are used for the Apple place search described above; days, times and notes stay in the plan on your device. “Directions in Apple Maps” on a place opens the Apple Maps app with that place’s name and location (and the previous place, if you choose it).
Trip story links (optional). When you choose to share a map story, Remin builds a link containing only the places you pick (names and locations rounded to about 100 m) and, if you turn them on, your notes and trip dates. Photos, capture times and device information are never included. The story sits after the “#” in the link, which browsers do not send to the server, and it is not stored by Remin or on any server. The link opens a page on this support site (hosted on GitHub Pages) that decodes the story inside the viewer’s browser; the host can see that the page was visited (such as IP address and time) but not the story. Anyone who has the link can read its content. A received story opened in Remin is shown with Apple Maps as described above, and “Plan this trip” saves a copy as your own plan on your device.
Place shortcuts (optional). If you register an HTTPS web page or image address, your iPhone loads it to read a code for your Watch. Pages may redirect or load resources and scripts from other hosts. Those operators can receive your IP address, request time and information in the URL you registered. Remin does not attach your photo library, location or analysis results to these requests. The Watch receives the resulting code from the iPhone through WatchConnectivity; it does not fetch the web page itself.
The QR Library scans only photos you select, on device. Original photos remain unchanged. Photo references and reference previews are kept on iPhone and are not sent to Watch. PhotoKit may download an iCloud photo from Apple. New codes have Watch storage, place suggestions, and arrival notifications turned off by default, and can be saved and opened without location access. Web code refreshes are checked when you open the QR Library.
Travel time (optional). When you tap “Travel time” between two places in a trip plan, the locations of those two places are sent to Apple Maps to estimate the route. Nothing is sent unless you tap it.
Remin Pro subscription (optional). Purchases, restores and renewals are handled by the Apple App Store. Remin does not receive payment information; subscription status is checked on device with StoreKit. Subscribing never sends your photos or analysis results to a server.
Separately, if you use iCloud Photo Library, photos may be downloaded to your device over network connections managed by iOS itself (Apple services).
Remin does not track users. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier and no crash reporter that reports to us.
Every permission is optional except photo access, and Remin's other features continue to work without them.
When you delete the app, Remin's local data — including voice memo recordings and your notes — is removed with it. (Your original photos and albums remain yours to manage in the Photos app.)
