Summary

  • Remin requests access to your device's Photos to analyse your photos and videos.
  • All analysis — clustering, quality scoring, search indexing and AI-written travel stories — runs on your device. Your photos and videos are never uploaded to us.
  • Remin contains no advertising or tracking SDKs and sells no data to third parties.
  • Apple Maps features and optional place shortcuts use the network as described under Network Use.

Information We Access

Remin may access the following on your device to provide app functionality:

  • Photos and videos, with their metadata (capture time, and location where present): travel photo curation, search and content creation
  • Your current location: recorded when you save a moment or a place from Apple Watch, and used to show where a place shortcut applies
  • Microphone audio: only while you are recording a voice memo on Apple Watch

Storage

Remin stores analysis results, settings, voice memo recordings and any notes you write locally on your device (local database and cache) for app operation.

On-Device Processing

  • Photo clustering, quality assessment, visual similarity and the search index are computed on your device using Apple's Vision and Core ML frameworks.
  • Travel stories, session names and semantic tags are generated by Apple Intelligence's on-device foundation models on supported devices. No prompt or photo is sent to a server.
  • Voice memos are recorded and kept on your device. Remin does not transcribe them — the note shown beside a memo is text you type yourself.

Network Use

Remin has no server of its own and does not upload your photos, videos, voice recordings or photo analysis results to the developer. Photo analysis runs on your device.

Apple Maps. Map display, place search and converting coordinates into place names use Apple services. Search text, coordinates or the relevant map area may be sent to Apple to provide these results, including place names for photo and bookmark locations.

Place shortcuts (optional). If you register an HTTPS web page or image address, your iPhone loads it to read a code for your Watch. Pages may redirect or load resources and scripts from other hosts. Those operators can receive your IP address, request time and information in the URL you registered. Remin does not attach your photo library, location or analysis results to these requests. The Watch receives the resulting code from the iPhone through WatchConnectivity; it does not fetch the web page itself.

The QR Library scans only photos you select, on device. Original photos remain unchanged. Photo references and reference previews are kept on iPhone and are not sent to Watch. PhotoKit may download an iCloud photo from Apple. New codes have Watch storage, place suggestions, and arrival notifications turned off by default, and can be saved and opened without location access. Web code refreshes are checked when you open the QR Library.

Separately, if you use iCloud Photo Library, photos may be downloaded to your device over network connections managed by iOS itself (Apple services).

Tracking

Remin does not track users. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier and no crash reporter that reports to us.

Permissions

  • Photo access: photo selection, analysis and album creation
  • Location (when in use): recording where a moment or place was saved, and matching place shortcuts to where you are
  • Microphone: recording voice memos on Apple Watch

Every permission is optional except photo access, and Remin's other features continue to work without them.

Data Deletion

When you delete the app, Remin's local data — including voice memo recordings and your notes — is removed with it. (Your original photos and albums remain yours to manage in the Photos app.)
