Website advertising measurement
The sections below describe the ViewLingo Mac app. The website has a separate, optional Google Ads measurement feature. If you allow it, Google receives website visits, App Store button clicks, advertising identifiers, and browser/network information, including IP address. It may use cookies to attribute interactions to ads. Ad personalization is disabled. No Google tag loads until you agree. Declining keeps the website usable; you can change your choice using “Ad measurement settings” in the footer. Your choice is stored locally for 180 days. This website measurement does not collect app screens, OCR or translated text, and does not confirm App Store purchases. Purchases and revenue are reviewed separately in App Store Connect.

ViewLingo doesn't collect, store, or transmit ANY data. All translations happen on your device. We can't see what you translate, and neither can anyone else.

🛡️ How ViewLingo Protects Your Privacy
100% On-Device Processing
All translations are performed using Apple's Translation framework, which runs entirely on your Mac. Your text never leaves your device, and we have no servers to send it to even if we wanted to (which we don't).
No Internet Required
Once you've downloaded the necessary language packs from Apple, ViewLingo works completely offline. You can translate sensitive documents, private emails, or confidential information with complete peace of mind.
No Third-Party Services
We don't use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services. ViewLingo is just you, your Mac, and Apple's built-in translation engine.
📸 Screen Recording Permission
ViewLingo requires Screen Recording permission to capture the text you want to translate. Here's what you need to know:
- This permission is used only to capture text within the viewfinder you create
- We only process the area you explicitly select
- Captured images are processed locally and immediately discarded
- Nothing is saved, stored, or transmitted
🔐 Data Security
Since we don't collect any data, there's nothing to secure on our end. However, ViewLingo follows best practices:
- All processing happens in your device's secure memory
- No temporary files are created
- No cache of translations is maintained
- Each translation is isolated and immediately discarded after display
🌍 Compliance
ViewLingo is designed to exceed the requirements of privacy regulations worldwide:
- GDPR (Europe): We don't process any personal data
- CCPA (California): We don't collect any consumer information
- LGPD (Brazil): No data processing occurs
- PIPEDA (Canada): No personal information is handled
Since we don't collect data, there's nothing to request, delete, or opt out of.
👶 Children's Privacy
ViewLingo doesn't collect data from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages, though it requires macOS 15.0 or later.

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
